Genshin Artober [2022]

a genshin impact art prompt challenge from oct 1 - oct 31

Today’s Prompt:

About Genshin Artober

✦ Ad astra abyssosque, Travelers! ✦Welcome to Genshin Artober, a Genshin Impact-themed Artober/Drawtober art challenge. For those of you unfamiliar with Drawtober, it is a month-long art challenge that artists like to participate in. Artists are given a prompt list, one prompt for each day of October, and challenge themselves to create a piece of artwork based on a prompt for any given day and post it online. The purpose of events like this is for artists to get out of their comfort zone; whether it be from the challenge of making a new piece of artwork every day, working only from prompts, or from a self-applied challenge such as limiting the medium or hues used to make said artworks.Genshin Artober is just like that, in that artists are invited to challenge themselves as artists to make new Genshin fanart for every day of October, based on Genshin-themed prompts. These prompts are free to be interpreted in whatever way you wish, though if you are having trouble coming up with ideas, I usually write some food-for-thought blurbs about each individual prompt in the Prompt List page to help, though at the moment, this isn't ready yet. It will be updated here on this Carrd very soon.If you choose to take on the challenge this year, make sure to enjoy yourself! There are no applications or anything of the sort for this event, there's no minimum or maximum for the quality of the work produced, and you are free to draw anything Genshin-related you want. Just draw and have fun!✦ Ad astra abyssosque! ✦

Prompt List 2022

✦ Ad astra abyssosque, Travelers! ✦Pictured above is the prompt list for Genshin Artober 2022. If you would like a better understanding of each prompt, or you're struggling to come up with ideas with what to draw for any of the prompts, I usually write up some blurbs written up about each of them. This will be added once these writeups are ready later today. As a note, you are not required to draw based on the aforementioned blurbs. The little writeups are there only to serve as inspiration if you are having trouble coming up with ideas, and even then, you do not have to work from those if you wish not to. You are free to draw whatever you want based on the prompt list.In general, you are free to draw/write/create whatever you want based on the prompt list.Have fun, Travelers!

Frequently Asked Questions

Q. What is Artober / Drawtober?
A. Artober / Drawtober is a month-long art challenge artists like to do for the entirety of October, during which they create and post art for every single day of the month based a list of prompts. The most well-known version of this challenge is known as Inktober, though I've opted for the more general "Drawtober" or "Artober" due to the controversy that had come up with the creator of Inktober.
Many artists have taken to challenging themselves further by limiting the medium used to create the art (ie: Inktober consists of art made only with ink), the colors used for said art, et cetera.
There are also versions of this type event, but aimed at writers, photographers, etc.
With the wide variety of works created within the fandom, all manners of artists and writers are absolutely free to take part in this year's Genshin Artober. Art is art, and writing is art, too!Q. What is Genshin Artober?
A. Genshin Artober is a Genshin Impact-themed version of Artober. Simply put, participants will challenge themselves to create a piece of Genshin Impact fanwork, whether it be fanart or fanfiction, based on a prompt list for each day of October. Prompts for this event are themselves based on aspects of Genshin Impact; some of the prompts are vague while some are a little more specific, but all of them are hopefully intriguing enough to whet your creative brain.
The finalized prompt list can be located here.
Q. What kind of stuff can we make?
A. Anything based on the prompt list, and each prompt can be as loosely or strictly interpreted as you wish! You can draw as simply or as detailed as you like, and you can write as little and as much as you like!
That said, if you're someone who works better with clearer guidelines, we're happy to give you some minimums to work from if it would help, but you are not required to adhere to these, as a reminder. Artists, if you are truly challenging yourself by drawing each prompt on the day of, you could do a simple sketch or lineart. Writers, you can write a little 100-word minimum drabble based on each prompt.
Once again, you are not required to adhere to the guidelines in the paragraph above; they are just there to give people a starting point for those who work better with guidelines.
Q. Can we draw [insert idea here]? OR Can we do [insert idea here] for [insert Prompt here]?
A. You're free to make what you wish based on the prompt list! The purpose of the event is to challenge yourself by using the prompt list as inspiration for your works, but whatever you come up with based on the prompts is absolutely free reign. There is no right or wrong answer for these kinds of events.
An art example someone asked from last year's interest check: Can you draw a single person who is related with that theme without involving the others?
(ie: drawing Zhongli and not the other Archons for the Archon prompt?)
The answer is yes! As long as what you draw relates to the prompt, you're free to draw whatever! In this particular case, you are just as free to draw only Zhongli for the Archon prompt as you are to design an Archon version of a different playable not-Archon character, or even an Archon we haven't seen a design for yet. Whatever inspires you, go for it, I say!
Q. Can we create content that features pairings or ships?
A. Yes, of course! Like I said above, whatever you come up with based on the prompt list is absolutely free reign. If your inspiration takes the form of ship art or writing, by all means, go for it!
Out of deference to others, though, please make sure to properly tag the pairing/ship in your work when you post it.
Q. Any specific hashtag or @ needed for each post for this event?
A. Yes! For ease of finding your work, please tag your posts with the hashtag #genshinartober2022. You're not required to @ any of the Genshin Artober social media accounts if you don't wish to, but if you do, feel free to @genshinartober on Twitter, Tumblr, and Instagram. All three accounts share the same handle, so it shouldn't be to hard too find them.
Q. I have a question that is not addressed in this FAQ.
A. In that case, feel free to pop over to our CuriousCat and ask away!

Day 1 Through Day 8

If you're having trouble coming up with ideas for the prompts, I highly recommend clicking through the pagination starting here, as I've gone ahead and written up little blurbs for each and every prompt; hopefully, they're able to provide some semblance of inspiration to you.Day 1 - Travelers
"A traveler shall experience ten thousand tales, and each shall form a part of the traveler’s soul."
To start us off, today is about the Travelers.
No matter which of the two you picked, the other is your other half. You began your journey in search of your lost twin, and every action taken is to someday lead you back to their side.
On the other hand, your sibling had already traveled as you do now. While you slept, they undertook their own journey through Teyvat, where they saw the sights and learned of the world and its stories. They learned the truth. And they will not leave until you see what they see, too.
You both came to the world of Teyvat, and both traversed it all the same. And everything one does is conditional on the other. Neither of you will leave the other in this world until you are on the same side once more, no matter which side that is.
As such, it's only fair to consider the two of you as one whole.
Today, create something based on one or both Travelers who hail from the stars.
Day 2 - Flowers
"My memory has all but faded... But I will always remember how she, too, loved these flowers."
Across the expanses above and below Teyvat are flora abound.
From the spinning petals of the Windwheel Aster and the dusty history of the Glaze Lily, to the bloody lore of the Dendrobium and the dreamy existence of the Viparyas, the land is dotted with colors abound and is so, so alive.
In the nation of wind, there exists a festival of love and flowers and freedom. Windblumes are a notion as old as the days of Decarabian; they are a symbol of resistance and standing tall with unyielding roots in the face of the harshest of gales. Now, with the land at peace for years and years, the people may never know what the true Windblume was. And it doesn't matter, for these flowers having meaning for each individual person is what makes it a Windblume to them. Flowers can mean so much to people.
Many of the characters we know and play as have their own ties to the blooms of the world. What's your favorite flower?
Day 3 - Favonius
"Let the wind of justice and freedom lead."
A symbol of the freedom that Mondstadt must exemplify, the Knights of Favonius roots stem from Vennessa, the first Dandelion Knight, who rose up and overthrew the tyrannical aristocracy that had greatly oppressed the citizens of Mond. _, for the lands of Mondstadt must be free for the people to live freely. From then on, they Knights serve to protect Mondstadt
Today, while the Knights are a bit stretched thin since the Grand Master took most of them with him on his expedition northward, they are capable all the same, and will stand in defense of Mondstadt in the face of danger.
From the overworked yet capable Acting Grand Master to the teasing Librarian, the smooth-talking Cavalry Captain with his own secrets to the proactive Outrider, any of the Knights of Favonius. What will you create inspired by these knights?
Day 4 - Dragonspine
"Surely, the blessing of Sal Vindagnyr would be everlasting... That was the hope of those who wrote the annals of that mountain kingdom."
Much of the lore we know for Genshin comes from these artifacts, alongside weapons. From them, we know the stories of many figures otherwise lost to time: A past Dandelion Knight and the Wolf Pup who was lost to the cataclysm, a woman turned to flames when she learned of the fate of the one she loved, the origins of the heresy Imunlaukr and his descendants would hold to until the founding of Mondstadt, and crowns of white branches of an unknown nation whose priests went down into antediluvian ruins in search of truth. So much depth to a world is hidden within flowers, plumes, timepieces, cups, and crowns.
Sometimes, I imagine playable characters wearing the artifacts they have equipped. Imagine Venti with four pieces of Viridescent Venerer plus one very out of place Blizzard Strayer cup for that delicious Anemo Damage Bonus, which he probably can't even drink from since the lore for that cup suggests normal wines would freeze if poured into said cup. How do you think Diluc would feel if you told him about the origins of that the 4-Piece Crimson Witch set you have on him? Would he be mad? How mad do you think he'd be?
Day 5 - Anemo
"Still, the winds change direction. Someday, they will blow towards a brighter future... Take my blessings and live leisurely from this day onward."
Every region is very different from the others.
Mondstadt is a land of freedom; there is no god actively presiding over them (merely a hands-off one living among them) nor is there any kind of ruling figure in power. The Ordo Favonius keeps the order and protects Mond's citizens, but they are not any kind of ruling organization. The people live for the sake of living, and laughs come easily. It is a land where wine flows aplenty and the winds blow freely.
For this prompt, draw something inspired by Mondstadt. Maybe a local specialty? A Mondstadtian going about their every day life? A playable character from Mondstadt? A scene from the Mondstadt chapter of the Archon Quests?
Day 6 - Qixing
"The time of the adepti has long passed. If even the Liyue Qixing don't want to face that truth, then what future is there for Liyue?"
Team setups probably vary from person to person. Do you plan around elemental reactions? Do you bring supports and healers to keep your teams alive? Do you put your favorite characters so you can always look at them? Do you bring four healers for the lulz? At the end of the day, it doesn't matter what kind of teams you put together. What does matter is what it's like to adventure with a team.
What kind of dynamics do the teams you travel with have? Is it no-nonsense efficiency, or just nothing but chaos? Is stuff going boom all the time? Would these teams' interactions be fun for all involved, or would it be nothing but infighting?
Day 7 - Adepti
"If there is anyone that can help you in Liyue now, it can only be the mighty and illuminated adepti."
Food is an important aspect of Genshin Impact. In strictly gameplay matters, it is what heals you, what strengthens you, and what brings you back to life. But food can be more than just a gameplay system.
For some, food can be a taste of home. While on the road, miles and miles away from where you came from, it's natural to grow homesick, and familiar food can be the cure.
What about eating with a group? What is it like if your party cooks together? What kind of banter are they up to as they dine together? When characters cook foods they specialize in, how does it look? Would they share it with someone else? Partaking in and enjoying food and drink together bonds you to others, and good food is a universal language, you know!
Day 8 - Geo
"The currencies that flow through this land are my flesh and blood. For thus did I become the guarantor of the people's hard work, wisdom, and future. This is the trust I have placed in them. Betray it, and you taint my blood."
Every region is very different from the others.
Liyue maintains its orderly ways through the contracts Rex Lapis represents. It is a place of old gods long gone, and citizens of now. The land itself is rocky and craggy, but its people enjoy life and success in the continent's largest economic hub. With a culture alive with the people and customs of now and rituals and legends of old, Liyue is a land of business and opportunity.
For this prompt, draw something inspired by Liyue. Maybe the hustle and bustle of the city during the day, or the glittering lights of the Harbor at night. Maybe draw one of the many playable Liyuean characters, or anyone from Liyue.

Day 9 Through Day 16

Day 9 - Yaksha
"Though they possessed great might, they could not escape the karma of their actions, becoming contaminated by lingering grudges."
Your little home on the road; small enough to fit in your bag, but it's always bigger on the inside.
Your Serenitea Pot is your little slice of breathing room, a home to return to until you can truly return home. Customized to your tastes, with your most beloved party members taking up residence, what is life like in your tea pot? Is every furnishing meticulously placed so it truly feels like a home for you and your party? Did you set up a kitchen? A dining area? Beds? Did you stuff your house full of nothing but hundreds of Pine Folding Screen: Billowing Sails just to hit peak Adeptal Energy and rake in the realm currency? Perhaps you can draw inspiration from what it would be like for your party members to live in your Serenitea Pot. Your imagination is limited only by your Tea Pot's load limit.
Day 10 - Electro
"This body is the noblest and most eminent of all in this world. It should hold absolute control over this world. It once promised its people a dream: the never-changing 'eternity.'"
There is something about the domains in Genshin that feel otherworldly. From the rushing waterfalls of Cecilia Garden, the smoldering flames of Taishan Mansion, or the fluttering crimson leaves of Momiji-Dyed Court, there is always this air of mystique. Many of these domains have their own extensive history, so maybe you could draw inspiration from those stories?
Exploring a domain entails many things. Whether those things are artifacts to grow stronger, ascension materials, or even just treasure, there is much to be had in a domain.
Perhaps you have a story of your own to tell about experiences in domains. Perhaps the party you bring into certain domains is a story of its own. Or maybe you'd rather work from your own experiences. I know I've walked right off the edge of the stage numerous times because I was just thinking about other crap. Have you once started the domain challenge while your co-op partner was outside of the barrier? I have. It sucked!
Day 11 - Chasm
"Where once miners industriously delved and tunneled, now all is silent. Only the Glazed Sand Crystal and marrows of stone, both millennia-old, still give off any brilliance."
Every region is very different from the others.
Inazuma is a gorgeous archipelago. Maintained by the Tri-Commission under the Inazuma Bakufu, who in turn are under direct rule of the Raiden Shogun, Inazuma is a place of honor and holding firm. Despite the oppressive atmosphere from the Sakoku Decree and the resulting civil war between the Bakufu and the Sangonomiya Resistance due to the seizing of Visions, the citizens that remain continue on all the same. They live their lives and watch the same fireworks in the sky.
It is a land more contradictory than many would think. The Raiden Shogun represents the element of Electro, and the islands are so frequently plagued with lightning storms. For a god seeking eternity, lightning is something so of the moment and impermanent. It strikes in a flash of blinding light, and is gone just as quickly.
For this prompt, draw something inspired by Inazuma. Maybe a festival night on Amakane Island, fireworks lighting up the night sky. Perhaps the Shirasagi Himegimi greeting others on the street. Someone enjoying some Tri-Color Dango? I know I want some.
Day 12 - Abyss Order
"But it must be said... Don't try to stop me. Don't try to stop the Abyss."
One of the biggest aspects of Genshin is its open world. Teyvat (at least, the parts that are currently there) is open for you to explore and learn about. From the shores outside of Starfell Valley where you started your journey with Paimon, to the giant pearlescent wall-clinging shells of Watatsumi Island, you have explored the lands and have no plans of slowing down.
Do you remember when you explored the world for the first time? Walking up to the edge of the cliffside overlooking Starfell Lake, the walls of Mondstadt in the distance? What about making your way across the wooden bridge and taking in the boats, lights, and architecture, the hustle and bustle of Liyue Harbor for the first time? How about disembarking the Alcor onto the docks of Ritou and taking in the colors of the land, the fallen crimson leaves in the water and the beautiful buildings of Inazuma for the first time? Everywhere you go, there is always something to see and explore.
Day 13 - NPC
"Please do not worry for me. My journey has only just begun. Once I am done taking a breather, I will march deeper in. Thank you for helping me clear the path ahead."
Weather conditions can make or break your adventuring experience. When it rains, fighting a Cryo Abyss Mage could be absolute hell. On the other hand, fighting a Pyro Abyss Mage in the same conditions is almost laughable. As you travel through the lands, you may find yourself at the mercy of the weather. You may find yourself drenched from getting caught in the rain. Perhaps you are freezing from the sheer cold of Dragonspine. Maybe you got super killed from being struck by lightning.
Almost every party member has something to say when certain weather conditions come into effect. Some express disdain, some are filled with joy. Some, like Diluc, become brooding. How does weather in Genshin make you feel?
Day 14 - Enkanomiya
"All Watatsumi islanders know this tale: that deep beneath the waves lies their former home."
Every region is very different from the others.
Sumeru is a land of scholars and knowledge. Students and professors from and at the Sumeru Academia are in constant search of erudition. Their god is the youngest of the Archons, coming into power after the cataclysm.
Admittedly, we have no idea how this nation looks, but you are invited to draw how you think Sumeru may look. You could also draw Cyno or Collei, or how you think Lisa used to look back during her days at the Academia.
Day 15 - Dendro
"I had a very, very long dream... In it, people were holding hands, dancing in a circle, be they sages or fools, dancers or warriors, puppets or statues of gods... That dancing circle embodied everything about the universe. Life has always been the end, while it is wisdom that shall be the means."
All over Teyvat, there is treasure to be had, and there is much that comes from treasure, to the point it's not surprising how easy it is to convince Paimon with the promise of it. A treasure chest represents a reward for a job well done, from finding one hidden in the dark corners of a dreary domain, to being given one for reaching the end of said domain. Many are spread out all over the world, and the reward is worth the struggle.
The best feeling is finding treasure after working together.
"This must be the proudest moment for any adventurer! Not only getting the chest, but having this golden opportunity to join you on an adventure. For me, that's a pretty major treasure already, hehe..."
Day 16 - Weapon
"For adventurers and warriors, a weapon is one's most trusted companion. Enhance your weapon with refinement ore and it, like you, will go from strength to strength."
What is your favorite weapon? Are you one for the classic sword, or are you partial to the polearm? Do you like zap zapping with a catalyst? What about cleaving through crowds with a claymore? Maybe you like machinegunning it with a bow. Or, perhaps you're like me and you like imagining a character just beating dudes with their bare hands, which was why you were very, very happy when Heizou was released.
Regardless, to stay safe during your travels in the world of Teyvat, having a weapon on hand is the way to go. Many of these weapons have histories, legends and stories of their origins, their accomplishments, and their wielders' origins and accomplishments. Some have humorous histories, some are tinged with tragedy.
Maybe you enjoy imagining a playable character with another weapon? Imagine Kaeya as a catalyst user, or the Raiden Shogun with a bow. What if Qiqi used a polearm thrice her size? The possibilities are limitless.

Day 17 Through Day 24

Day 17 - Akademiya / Forest Rangers
"What dreams lie within the rich slumber of the stories deep in the woods?"
Every region is very different from the others.
There is very little we know about Fontaine. It seems to be heavily based in justice and the courtroom, and as befitting of a land of Hydro, may be full of bodies of water and waterfalls. It's the home of the musical genre of rock n' roll, and might be a hub of the arts. The Lochfolk hail from Fontaine, from back when the previous Hydro Archon ruled.
Feel free to draw how you think Fontaine looks. If it's any help, based on "The Steambird," the name of a newspaper from the Court of Fontaine, the appearance and descriptions of gadgets that hail from there, and Ramsay's dialogue on how his admittedly fictional writings have some basis in reality, it is entirely possible that Fontaine is steampunk-themed. Alternatively, you can just draw characters we know for a fact hail from Fontaine, like various NPCs or Lyney and Lynette from the Travail video.
Day 18 - Hydro
"My ideals have no stains. I must correct you. People here bear no sins in the eyes of the gods... Only laws and the Tribunal can judge someone. They can judge even me. So praise my magnificence and purity."
Enemies will always confront you at every junction of your journey. Whether they are hilichurls you startled, treasure hoarders you caught in the act, Ruin Machines that now aimlessly wander the lands, or Abyss Order members up to no good, there are many that pose a threat.
That said, this prompt isn't necessarily about enemies as enemies. It can also be them just existing: a Ruin Guard with a bird on its head, a Kairagi honing his skill with the sword, and Abyss Mages being fluffy!
Day 19 - Fishing
"Paimon thinks you've earned yourself a new title: 'Favonius Fish-Catching Extraordinaire!'"
From your unique position as an otherworldly Outlander in search of your lost sibling and the unknown god that condemned you both, you travel the lands and meet all sorts of characters. When you imagine the overarching Archons of the seven nations, especially after meeting them, you come face to face with aspects that either do not at all match what they represent, or match it so well it almost goes too far.
A bard who lives on a whim and the wind, performing with a smile to the cheers, coin, and drink of the tavern, yet he wears the face of a dear lost friend and hasn't changed since. A funeral consultant learned and wise, knowledgeable of many things large and small, significant and miniscule, yet someone that smart should not be that bad with money. A ruler, after losing her beloved friends and family and truly understanding the pain of loss, wishing to preserve her country as is so that no one knows such pain, yet she has no idea what her country is like nowadays.
For figures meant to be gods, they sure seem very human.
Day 20 - Quest
"Your hero's journey began before you knew it, but it's the experiences that really made it special."
Every region is very different from the others.
Natlan is the nation we know the least about out of all of the nations of Teyvat. All that's really known about the land of Pyro are the presence of volcanoes and volcanic activity, and lore about the clans of Natlan, who apparently came together to hold rites of combat in Murata's name. Vennessa's tribe hails from Natlan, but it is acknowledged that by her time, her tribe had lost knowledge of their homeland due to becoming a nomadic tribe and having left Natlan long ago.
If you truly want to challenge yourself, by all means, try to draw what you think Natlan looks like. You could also draw Vennessa, or Iansan from the Travail video.
Day 21 - Pyro
"A pilgrimage for a wish; a battle to earn a name... Burnt to cinders for a dream. If the intention yet remains, achieved ▉▉'s truth he has."
Reduced to barely corporeal beings, Seelies have come a very far distance from the beings they used to be, but will guide travelers all the same. They will lead to treasure for keeping them company as you lead them back to their Seelie Courts to rest. The Seelies of Dragonspine will keep you warm, saving you from freezing to death in the frigid cold.
The one that may be floating by your side adores you. Bouncing around, popping out its ears, calling you "Mama," this Seelie will instead follow you, joining you on your journey and remaining steadfast by your side. If you have one, which color do you have? It's a lot of fun depicting your Seelie interacting with your party members. Would the Dayflower Seelie seat itself in the fur of Kaeya's coat? Maybe a Curcuma Seelie would circle Zhongli along with the Memory of Dust? Perhaps the Viola Seelie would join Fischl's antics and acting.
Day 22 - Gods
"The Seven were a diverse lot and dispersed far and wide, but they all shouldered the burden of guiding humanity."
Day 23 - Cryo
"Sorry... to also have you shoulder the grievances of the world. Since you could endure my bitter cold, you must have the desire to burn? Then, burn away the old world for me."
Every region is very different from the others.
Snezhnaya is a cold land, as befitting of the land of Cryo. From its nursery rhymes to its unforgiving climes, life in Snezhnaya can be brutal and cutthroat. Yet at the same time, the concepts of camaraderie and family values are esteemed in this cold land.
The most technologically advanced in all of Teyvat, Snezhnaya has factories, weaponry such as guns, and the know-how and tools to work with things like Ruin Machines, Archon Residue, and Delusions.
The Tsaritsa rules over this nation through the Fatui and her Harbingers.
What do you think Snezhnaya will look like? Crystalline and chillingly gorgeous? Smoggy and poluted? Both? You could also draw characters from Snezhnaya, if you'd like.
Day 24 - Harbingers
"Then I shall become instead a fool, a Fatuus, and devote myself to Her Majesty, who understands my pain..."
It's hard to say where this organization stands. For all intents and purposes, many of their goals go directly against your own morals and ambitions. Ever since the Prologue of the game, you have been at odds with the Fatui and their mission. Your encounters with many of their members and Harbingers have been violent meetings, and you've witnessed many innocents, some of whom were very dear to you, caught up in their machinations.
At the same time, many of the members are also just people. Like the man stationed inside a church befriending a little girl, or the two bank security guards becoming accidental pen pals, when you learn more about their individualities, many of them become as human as any normal person. It is a humanity at odds with the unnatural power they use, and at odds with their organization's overarching actions. And these are aspects that will always be at odds, until we finally understand what it is the Tsaritsa is planning.

Day 25 Through Day 31

Day 25 - Adventurer's Guild
"Ad astra abyssosque! Welcome to the Adventurer’s Guild!"
Mondstadt ran into trouble when one of the Four Winds meant to protect it fell to Abyssal corruption. This corruption originally came from its own battle with another corrupted dragon who hailed from the depths of the Abyss, Durin.
The creatures that poured onto the land during the cataclysm seemed to all be afflicted with a corruption.
The power of abyssal corruption disrupts even the most noble souls. If you are stuck with this one, here's an idea you could work with: what if your characters fell to such corruption? I've seen a lot of art of Venti and Albedo falling to such corruption. How would it look?
Day 26 - Character Outfit
"When clothing becomes part of the expression of one's personality, even an extension of one's body... That is quite a wonderful thing."
Every region is very different from the others.
Khaenri'ah was once a glorious kingdom. Though little life grew in the depths of the godless kingdom, they instead had Khemia, with the capability of creating life. Khaenri'ah must have been advanced in technology to have created all Ruin Machines. That kingdom flourished for about 2100 years until its fall during the cataclysm 500 years ago, where the gods descended onto it and punished the nation and its citizens. The people of Khaenri'ah were cursed, and the nation came to an end. What remains is the Abyss Order, the Twilight Sword cursed to wander for eternity, and the kingdom's "last hope."
What do you think this fallen kingdom looks like? Many people think some of the domains and the Spiral Abyss may be the remnants of Khaenri'ah. Maybe draw some members of the Abyss Order. Or perhaps you could draw Kaeya or Dainsleif.
Day 27 - Aranara
"In the end, the forest will remember."
The moment someone receives a Vision seems to not always be consistent in tonality. One story has a deactivated Vision coming to life in the hands of its new holder, who had initially been planning to sell it for profit. Another story has one coming into being spontaneously during an experiment, with the holder pausing for a moment only to continue experimenting on the Vision itself. And yet, there are those times when they present themselves in moments of extreme duress, like when a fiery Vision formed as the unlucky holder lost consciousness while on the verge of death, wounds suddenly cauterized and bleeding stopped.
Such moments, while not necessarily life-changing in the moment of receiving one, represent blessings from the heavens.
Day 28 - Archipelago
"Years have gone by, and you wake from an old dream. Inside the keepsake shell, lingers the blue ocean of those summer days."
In effect, they are artificial Visions. If Visions are meant to be the gods’ blessings upon humanity, then would the existence of Delusions be humanity’s defiance of the gods?
With what can be accomplished with he power of Delusions, there is scant difference between its meaning to a soldier wanting to prove himself and fight for a resistance he felt was just, and to a little boy from Morepesok who fell into the Abyss and came back a bloodthirsty monster. It is power all the same to those who need it, but are its drawbacks worth it in the end?
Perhaps you could draw someone who possesses or once possessed a Delusion. From the Ragnvindr heir in search of answers and bloody revenge, to the ice that snuffs out a raging body of crimson flames, there are many out there with their reason to use one.
Day 29 - Family
"So, someone has to protect them, right? If you make a promise, you keep it, if you make a mistake, you apologize. And if you give someone a dream, you defend it to the end. That is what family is all about, isn't it? Aha... Remind you of something, did I?"
This one’s a fun one: imagine a different take on the world, circumstances, and characters we know. For example, what about a Sci-Fi AU? Maybe you could depict a moment when the story diverges from the canon we know. What would Genshin characters be like in a more modern setting parallel to ours? There are as many possibilities as there are universes.Day 30 - Home
"’Home’ is wherever we are together."
There is a skilled astrologist currently living in Mondstadt who can look upon the surfaces of rippling waters and read the true starry sky, and she describes her scrying as such: "It is people's fate that shines in the night sky, and though its reflection in water is but an illusion, it reveals the truth nonetheless." Every constellation in Teyvat's night sky utterly defines someone who lives or once lived in the world. Each Stella Fortuna that makes up such collections of stars represents the will of those born beneath them, each bright light a point of strength and ambition.
It really makes you think; in some sort of roundabout way, the people of Teyvat, like us, are all made of star stuff.
Even you, descending onto the land from a world beyond Teyvat's sky, have a constellation in your image. Whether it be Viator or Viatrix, the stars come together and shine on you to say that you, too, have a purpose here in this world.
What’s your favorite constellation?
Day 31 - Celebration
"No matter where you journey takes you, and no matter what hardships might be ahead, I hope you'll always be able to look back fondly on the fireworks you saw tonight."
Festivals are a time of celebration!
From the hearty drink and cheer of Weinlesefest to the floating lights and prayers of Lantern Rite, the markets and recreations of the Irodori Festival and the traditions and celebrations of the Sabzeruz Festival, these events can be times of joy and merriment as well as commemoration and prayer. To take in the sights of the festivities, eat delicious food, play games, and observe such important moments of culture, there is always much to be celebrated at festivals!
So, draw these fun times of celebration! In the lulls of activity during the Lantern Rite, maybe Ganyu takes the time to release a lantern of her own. Perhaps Beatrice finally gets her act together and gives a Windblume to Quinn upfront. Maybe the bright explosions and booming sounds of Naganohara-brand fireworks firing off atop Amakase Island accidentally wakes Sayu up.
If you'd rather tackle a different angle, October 31st is also Halloween, so... take from that what you will.
Finally, it's worth remembering this is a moment to celebrate! If you made it all the way to Day 31 of this challenge, congratulations! You've made it to the very end of Genshin Artober! These types of challenges are very difficult to commit to, so to actually make it to the very end, you deserve the world. Draw what makes you the happiest in honor of completing Genshin Artober!
